THE CANON
(Color. Silent. 1:00.) A deconstruction / reconstruction of images and language, filmed on a digital camera and iPhone. The choreographed images of the nuns walking together along the ruins in Rome, ruminate the words “fugue” and “canon” beyond their musical definitions. The structure and syllable limitations of the haiku add a vital thematic layer. Counting the beats of each word reflects my classical music training, as well as my ongoing interest in controlling and choreographing text in my films and photo collages.
Screenings include Delete TV / www.okto.tv Austria 2025

LAMENT OF A CERTAIN AGE
Color. Silent. 59 seconds. Canon digital camera. Experimental film. Appropriated photographed images from April 27, 1961 issue of Life Magazine, photographer Paul Schutzer.
As a first-generation American born just weeks after Caroline Kennedy, and at the same New York Hospital, this moment in time was my refugee family’s hope for safe haven, representing a new life with a young president.

(Included in the One Minute Volume Twelve series) Tour includes Storyhouse Chester, England, The Cube Microplex Bristol; Visualcontainer + [.BOX] Videoart Project Space, Milan, Italy; LÁ Art Museum Iceland; Centre for Contemporary Arts Glasgow; Contemporary Art Ruhr Media Art Fair Essen, Germany; The Birley Project Space, UK; The Auxilliary Middlesbrough, UK. Alternative Film Festival Nominee.
THE PLUNDER

A rumination on: Borders. Home. Possession.
Filmed on an iPhone throughout New York City. The live action was not staged or re-created. Images and sounds are intended to have an unpolished quality, reflecting the fluid motions of the city and to serve as a vital contrast to the very controlled placement of my poem. (Color. Sound. 02:51.)
Winner Best Director AltFF Alternative Film Festival, Canada; Honorable Mention Midwest Video Film Fest, USA.

SONG OF DEPARTURE

The words of my poem written years ago, revisted upon spying the Statue of Liberty in the distance. Revisited. Reflecting. (Shot on iPhone. Color. Sound. 1:09. 2022.)
Three Series of Silent Films
Unearthing years of poetry, and photographing images from decades-old publications, including Life Magazine and the 1963 World Book Encyclopedia, prompted making these words and images move beyond the page and onto the screen.

The films can be shown on monitors of any size and/or projected directly onto walls. Each series of films can be grouped together in a loop, or each film can stand alone and be seen on a loop.
